America in the 21st century should have put all that stupid racial stuff behind us, especially since the nation has accepted Dr. Martin Luther King as a hero and lauds Abraham Lincoln as one of its greatest presidents. The response of the university, a small Christian Quaker institution, was remarkably fast and honest, saying in a personal letter to Sen. Obama “Please know that this incident does not represent how our community feels about issues of race or your candidacy. We pray for God’s peace in your life and that He will use this terrible event to bring positive change in our community.” In the face of such bigotry, that’s refreshing!
