Last week’s FAA debacle put hundreds of flights into a literal holding pattern. Flights Appear Back to Normal After FAA Glitch is "Pretty Much Resolved" [Today in the Sky]. At Chicago O’Hare, Atlanta, Chicago Midway, Boston and Baltimore/Washington, a software failure stranded almost all commercial aircraft for hours because air controllers lost their eyes on the sky. Having dealt with my share of "ground holds" due to weather that’s affecting neither my originating or destination airports — and numerous other examples of FAA and TSA stupidity — this is comlpetely expected and completely unacceptable. Where are the politicans advocating privatization when we really need them?
