I am in San Diego at a telecom industry conference. Which got me to thinking how much business is really about people and personality. So much of what drives entrepreneurs is a desire to make their mark, on society or culture or technology, and corroborate their own egos. That’s not necessarily bad, it just provides the context for why so many businesses, even the most successful, run into problems when the principals fight over control. The myth of capitalism is that people are rational economic decision-makers. Hardly, I think.
