My grandfather caught a sailfish off of Miami Beach in 1958, which has adorned the wall of my home for decades. Now I’ve finally joined the club — albeit with a modern, tag-and-release catch — over the Thanksgiving Holiday.

It was a tremendously exciting and tiring battle. Here’s two photos to commemorate the occasion. The first is my brother Jim fighting his fish as it jumped out of the water, called “walking on its tail.” The second is a pic of the band of brothers after our dueling battles.

As I fought with the fish, which took almost 30 minutes to land with waves crashing over the transom, I told the captain — in Roy Schedier’s memorable phrase — “I think you need a bigger boat”!

Very cool, IMHO.
