Today McCain declared for the first time he believes the Iraq war can be won by 2013, although he (of course) flatly rejected suggestions that his talk of a timetable put him on the same side as Democrats clamoring for full-scale troop withdrawals. Nor did he reconcile that prediction with his prior statements that the U.S. may need to be in Iraq for another 100 years.
Even five "short" years is too long to have our young men staying — and dying — in a wasteland desert country that doesn’t want us, doesn’t want democracy and doesn’t serve America’s national interests in any way. This is just absurd.
